I AM REALLY THANKFUL*
FOR the massive collection of scarfs my mom has accrued over the years. They really come in handy when I sit on my bed, mind blank,
starring cross-eyed at my wardrobe contents, trying to -
at least - accidentally come up with a color combination. I already
talked about how I
use scarfs as a
ready-made palette but they also come in handy when looking for a way
to reinvent some pieces.
What I end up doing is pick a
scarf and take out pieces that fall into its palette, and when I put them next
to each other, amazing things happen. Pieces that I would not even fold
together come together in a very interesting combination. I know that it looks
like an overlay piece, but what I am actually wearing is a button up dress
legit from the 80s, as in mom bought it in the 80s. Last year, I found it while
digging in her closet and all I did was change the ancient-looking buttons with
some new ones in order to make it more decade appropriate. Hopefully, I can
shoot photos in the future wearing it as a dress so you can see it in its full
glory.
People who saw these photos or
saw me on the day they were taken, asked me where I got my “trench” from. When I told them it was actually a button up dress,
they asked me how I came up with the idea to wear it as a “trench”. If you ask
me, it’s not really a revolutionary idea but since not everybody gets my humor,
answering: “I stared cross-eyed at my
wardrobe contents” is not really an option, and explaining what I do with
scarfs to everybody is just too much trouble. But now you know, so hopefully it
will aid you on days when you have “nothing to wear”.
If you have any similar tips or tricks,
please share! ^^
ASPIRE HIGHER!
*hugs*

* I am also very sorry for being a wardrobe thief, but that’s the hazard
of having a daughter, mom.
